Disney World Updates Cast Member Mask Policy
Amid the relaxation of many pandemic-era protocols, theme parks have been making major changes to their health and safety requirements for both Guests and employees. Both Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Orlando Resort have eliminated their outdoor mask requirements for Guests and reduced social distancing requirements.
Disney World has now also confirmed that it will be changing up its face mask policy for some Cast Members as well. Specifically, Cast Members in certain roles now have the option of not wearing masks outdoors.

Disney World officials confirmed the news on June 3 with FOX35 Orlando.
Walt Disney World confirmed to FOX 35 that they have made a slight change to their mask policy.
“Certain cast members who work outside and can maintain physical distancing have the option to go maskless,” they said. They also clarified that this is a fairly small percentage of employees.

While Disney World has relaxed its outdoor mask requirement for all Guests and certain Cast Members, it is important to note that Guests visiting the Walt Disney World Resort must continue to wear masks while at all indoor locations — with exceptions made for Guests who are actively eating or drinking. If you are entering an area where face coverings are required, there will be signage indicating that face masks must be worn and Cast Members will also remind you of this rule.

Disney World’s website currently states the following information when it comes to face mask requirements:
Face coverings are required for all Guests (ages 2 and up) and Cast Members. Please bring your own face coverings and wear them in all indoor locations, except when actively eating or drinking while stationary and maintaining appropriate physical distancing. Face coverings are optional in outdoor common areas at Walt Disney World Resort, but are still required upon entering and throughout all attractions, theaters and transportation.

It is important to note that mask requirements are still in place at Walt Disney World when proper physical distancing is not feasible. Disney World officials have not announced when they will be lifting their indoor mask requirements, although the State of Florida has not had a strict face mask requirement in place for months.
